Shepshed bounce back with home win

SHEPSHED bounced back from last week’s defeat with an eight wicket win over Shree Sanatan.

It was the visitors who batted first but Shepshed immediatel­y took control, grabbing a wicket with the first ball of the match and within two overs Shree Sanatan had lost three wickets.

They fought back with a quickfire 53 runs but the wickets started to tumble with a highlight being a superb catch on the boundary by veteran Danny Brown.

Shree Sanatan were all out for 113 with Paul Felton taking 4-54 and Christian Booth 3-16.

Shepshed only needed 22 overs to secure victory, Karl Shaw top scored with 33 backed up by Andrew Gibson 29 not out and Alec Williams also 29 not out and the team now sits seocnd in the Division Three league table.

Meanwhile the 2nd XI travelled to face Newtown Linford 2nd XI. Newtown batted first and scored 293 for 5 with Ash Palmer taking 3 for 41 Shepshed in reply scored 210 for 6 with Chris Gibson top scoring with 73 not out.

Shepshed 3rd XI made the short trip to Loughborou­gh Carillion 2nd XI and ended up bowling first against a strong Carillion side who racked up 294 for 3 as Shepshed spilled a number of catches. In reply Shepshed never got going and were all out for 111.

Shepshed 4th XI made the long trip to Croft to play Enderby 3rd XI and did not hang around bowling Enderby out for 74 with Max Baileys Ford taking 4-5 including a great catch by Phil Ashdown who ran and took a diving catch inches from the ground.

Shepshed soon reached their target finishing on 75 for 4 with Kieron Sutcliffe 36 not out - a solid performanc­e from Shepshed who now stand top of the league.
