Summer of performanc­es at Queen’s Park bandstand

THE bandstand in Queen’s Park, Loughborou­gh, will play centre stage to performanc­es by local talent this summer.

Free afternoon concerts by a number of bands and choirs will be staged on the bandstand from May 27 until July 22.

Performers will include the Loughborou­gh Male Voice Choir, Charnwood Concert Band and the Newhall Ensemble.

Coun Brian Page, lead member for community, safety and wellbeing at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “Queen’s Park is such a beautiful place to visit during the summer, and what better way to spend an afternoon than listening to music and enjoying the outdoors?

“If you haven’t visited before I’d encourage you to come along to these free concerts and see the park.

“Charnwood Museum will also be open throughout the summer, so there’s plenty to see and do while you’re here.”

The concerts all start at 2pm and will take place: • Sunday, May 27 – Loughborou­gh Male Voice Choir • Sunday, June 3 – Loughborou­gh Salvation Army Music Sections • Sunday, June 10 – Charnwood Concert Band • Sunday, June 17 - Melbourne Town Band • Sunday, July 1 – The Newhall Ensemble • Sunday, July 8 – Loughborou­gh Concert Band • Sunday, July 15 – The New Orleans Hotshots Jazz Band • Sunday, July 22 – Hathern Youth and Concert Brass.
