Fatal collision prompts police CCTV witness appeal

DETECTIVES investigat­ing a fatal collision on the A6 in Birstall are appealing for the occupants of a dark coloured car to come forward.

Dylan Campbell, 16, from Birstall, died as a result of the collision, which happened just after 12.15am on Sunday, April 29.

The driver of the car involved in the collision, an Audi, was not arrested.

The car officers wish to trace was travelling on the A6 towards Loughborou­gh at the time the collision occurred, and the occupants of the car may have vital informatio­n that will help the investigat­ion. The car can be seen approachin­g the junction with Johnson Road in CCTV footage, and again near to the junction with Greengate Lane in a still image.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns said: “Extensive enquiries have been carried out since this collision and the people in this dark coloured car we’ve identified might have key informatio­n about the incident.

“I would like to stress that the people in the car aren’t in any trouble, but may have witnessed something – however small, and insignific­ant it may seem to them – that will give me that vital piece of informatio­n for my investigat­ion.”

Call 101, asking to speak to the Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit and quoting incident 10 of 29 April.
