Adey Steel Group earns place in prestige report
ADEY Steel Group, based in Loughborough, has been named as one of the 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain in the London Stock Exchange Group’s annual report.
The report is supported by the likes of the Prime Minister Theresa May, Nicola Sturgeon and Jonathan Reynolds as well as the British Business Bank and showcases companies from 40 different sectors across the UK.
Based in Meadow Lane, Adey Steel Group is a steel fabrication and processing specialist.
Andrew Adey, group managing director of Adey Steel Group, said: “It is a real honour for us to be included in the report and a true testament to the hard work and dedication everyone at Adey Steel Group puts in to securing the future of the company. It’s fantastic to know that we are inspiring the nation and hopefully being included in the report will help us to reinforce that there really are endless opportunities available here at Adey Steel Group.”
Just one of the opportunities Andrew speaks of is the company’s apprenticeship programmes, which are helping to bridge the skills gap in the engineering and construction industry by offering career-shaping apprenticeships.
Currently the company is guiding three young apprentices through their apprenticeship programme – two fabricator welders Connor Ashby and Elliott Bowman, as well as Galina Larina who has recently completed her first year as a fabricator/welder and has now moved into the drawing office where she is engaging on a technical apprenticeship.
Through its apprenticeship schemes, Adey Steel Group encourages young people to take up a career in the industry and, partnering with the Loughborough College, works to provide its apprentices with unlimited access to comprehensive training, tutoring and mentoring.
Having employed apprentices for many years, they have become a key part in Adey Steel Group’s plans to bring fresh new talent into the business. And many of the company’s apprentices have gone on to achieve great things from working as a shop floor apprentice to becoming senior managers celebrating 20 years with the company.
Being featured in the 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain has spurred the company forward to develop their apprenticeship programmes further.
Mr Adey added: “While traditionally the company has focussed attention to recruiting apprentices in the likes of fabrication and welding, at Adey Steel Group we are now committed to broadening our apprenticeship opportunities with plans to introduce project management and technical roles.”
