Charnwood U12s celebrate bronze medal

-

STUDENTS at Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust, recently took part in a two-day netball tour at PGL Liddington in Wiltshire.

During the tour, students had the opportunity to perfect their netballing skills, as teams from across three age categories faced fierce competition during a mini tournament against several other schools. Despite chilly temperatures, Charnwood College’s Under 12 girls’ team managed to secure a bronze medal after finishing in third place overall.

The group of keen netball players were also left inspired by the opportunity to meet Commonwealth Gold medallist, Eboni Beckford-Chambers, who recently shot to victory as part of the Team England Netball Team at the Common- wealth Games on the Gold Coast of Australia.

As well as allowing players to improve their sporting performance, the tour also helped to build the unity of the teams through a range of activities.

From teambuilding challenges to high-ropes, the activities helped students to focus on teamwork and develop a group mindset, pushing the students out of their comfort zones and encouraging them to realise their potential.

A Charnwood College spokesman said: “This has been a fantastic opportunity for our netball players to play alongside others and build on their team spirit. All of the girls performed admirably, and they are now eagerly awaiting the next sports tour!”
