No major shocks in the opening round of the summer Kater 4 Knockout Cup

THE FIRST round games of the Summer 2018 Kater 4 Knockout cup were played last week in the Loughborou­gh & District Pubs and Clubs Darts League, with all the Blue Ball Division One sides involved in the first round winning through comfortabl­y.

There was also success for lower division sides with four Jim Kidger Division Five teams winning through. Leaders Generous Briton Luffs beat The Bull and Bush Laughing Boys from Wanty’s Division Two, Black Swan BWA beat S H Cox Division Three side Spot On Foxes, and the Royal Oak Old Uns and Tap and Clapper Rojo’s beat fellow division five sides Royal Oak Oakers and Crown KM. Barrow Cons Wagg’s Gang won a high scoring game against Crown Court 6-3, with ‘Gang’ members Dave Cox hitting his second maximum of the season and Mark Wagg a 125 finish.

But this was surpassed by Crown Court’s Frank Bray as he also hit his second maximum this campaign and equalled the highest finish of the season so far with an excellent 154 checkout.

The Three Nuns Right Footers, Spot On Reds, Tap & Mallet JB, Top Railway Wansum, Arena Gladiators, Spot On Guys ‘n’ Gals, White Hart Stags, Three Nuns Bad Habits, Bull & Bush Gatecrashe­rs, Black Swan JS, Plough B, Fennel Street Black Pearls, Bottom Railway BA & Old English Gentleman all had byes in to the second round of the draw which will take place on Thursday, June 14, at the Three Nuns, Loughborou­gh.

The second round games are scheduled to be played on Thursday June 28, but due to England playing Belgium in the world cup qualifier that evening should the game be cancelled it must be played before Thursday. July 12.

Once again this season the first round losing sides will be entered in to the shield competitio­n and the draw for this will take place on the same night.
