Kegworth win takes them top of Premier Division

KEGWORTH Town took over at the top of the Everards Leicesters­hire and Rutland Cricket League Premier Division table following a 173 run victory over Market Harborough.

Batting first, Kegworth made a massive 360-4 with Brent Williams top scoring with 151 and James Dickinson hitting an unbeaten 78.

In reply Market Harborough were restricted to 187-7.

The 25 points for Kegworth gives them a slender three point lead at the top of the table over Syston Town.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, there was a defeat for last week’s co-leaders Loughborou­gh Town who slipped up at Syston Town.

Batting first Loughborou­gh made 216-8 with Charles Lowen top scoring with an unbeaten 87.

In reply Syston eased to 217-4 to win by sic wickets, Nil Patel the pick of Loughborou­gh’s bowlers with 2-42.

Elsewhere there was a first win of the campaign for defending champions Sileby Town over newboys Uppingham.

Uppingham made 174 with Matt Ellis taking 4-24 and Jiga Naik taking 3-28.

In reply, Sileby made 175-5 with Liam Kinch top scoring with an unbeaten 68.

There was defeat for Barrow at the hands of Leicester Ivanhoe.

Barrow batted first and were 192 all out and in reply Leicester Ivanhoe hit 193-3 to secure a seven wicket triumph.
