Unfinished business for Wallhead

-

LOUGHBOROUGH MMA fighter ‘Judo’ Jimmy Wallhead says he has unfinished business in the UFC.

Wallhead says he’s had “zero luck” since joining the world’s top MMA organisation last year.

He’s lost both fights, but hopes that by the end of the year, UFC fans will see him back in the cage – and at his best.

Cleared of any intentional wrong doing after a failed drugs test, Wallhead is able to fight again in July, but with a busy few months ahead, the 34-year-old says he’s in no rush to get back in the cage.

He’s training fighters for the Fight UK show he co promotes at Hermitage Leisure Centre in Whitwick on Saturday, (June 2) and he’s also opening a new gym with Dan Hardy.

“I’ve got two fights left on my contract and I will fight again this year,” said Wallhead

“I’m waiting to hear from the UFC. They haven’t contacted me to offer me a fight yet, but it has to be at the right time for me.

“I had four great wins to get in the UFC, but I haven’t given a good performance yet in the UFC.

“In my first fight, I underperformed and ended up losing a split decision to a German in Germany and I was doing well in my second fight until I got a poke in the eye and was blinded.

“I have had zero luck in UFC and I just want to show everyone I’m a good fighter.

“I know that at 34, I’m not going to be a world champion, but I’ve won spars with fighters who are at the top. I believe I’m a top-15 level fighter and I just want to get in there and perform at my best. Win or lose, I don’t really care. There’s no pressure on me now. I just want to show people what I’m all about.”
