FIT FOR A PRINCE

-

When Prince died two years ago from an accidental drug overdose, aged just 57, his millions of fans around the world mourned the tragic loss.

A prolific songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and film-maker, he sold more than 100 million records worldwide and amassed a considerable fortune and a large collection of houses in Europe, the US and the Caribbean.

Following his death, several of these former homes have been sold and the latest to come onto the market is a mansion he owned on the island of Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos islands. It’s a highly private 10,000 sq ft oceanfront property in a 5,000- ,000acre estate, 40ft above the ocean, with its own dock and a Prince-designed surprise.

The driveway, which sweeps in from the entrance and guard hut to the main property, is painted purple.

The house also has six bedrooms, six bathrooms and huge glass doors to let the sea breeze in when it’s hot.

Prince’s former hideaway also offers multiple outside terraces and a swimming pool. The artist had starry neighbours on the island, where Brad Pitt, Christie Brinkley, and Eva Longoria all have homes too, while Donna Karan, Keith Richards and Bruce Willis have also owned properties there.

Prince’s mansion initially went on the market for $12m but is now being sold via auction on July 12, for which bidders must pay a $100,000 refundable auction fee just to take part.

The Premier Estates Auction Company is handling the sale.
