Shepshed 1st XI slip to home defeat

-

SHEPSHED entertained Narborough and Littlethorpe and slipped to a 51 run defeat.

Narborough batted first and were restriced to 194 all out with Christian Booth taking 3 for 35 backed up by Paul Felton 2 for 40 and Matt Taylor 2 for 50.

In reply Shepshed lost two early wickets against some very quick Narborough bowling and when Alec Williams came to the crease Shepshed hoped he would steady the ship.

After a shaky start he put bat to ball and the runs started to flow but with wickets falling around him the pressure started to tell and when Williams was bowled for 62 it did not look good for Shepshed.

In came Paul Felton who stuck around chipping away at the Narborough bowling to score a very good 19 and with all the Shepshed tailenders getting into double figures there was hope but in the end the Narborough bowling and fielding was too good on the day and Shepshed were bowled out for 143.

A bad day for Shepshed but they still sit second in the league and have a great chance to bounce back next week when they travel to bottom of the table Ratby.

The 2nd XI travelled to Appleby Magna 1st XI in a game to forget for Shepshed. Appleby batted first and scored 235-3 but in reply, Shepshed never got to grips with the Appleby bowling and were bowled out for just 123 - the highlight of the Shepshed innings was a superb 44 not out from youngster Jake Lister who carried his bat in a superb display of batting.

The 3rd XI went to Barwell 2nd XI and batting first scored 179 for 9 with all the Shepshed batsman chipping in.

Shepshed then put in a fielding display to be proud of with Luke Spielman the pick of the Shepshed bowlers taking 4 for 9 from his 12 overs and Andy Moore taking three wickets with figures of 3-23 his best bowling figures so far this season after recently joining the club.

Eventually Barwell were bowled out for 100 as Shepshed dominated in the field and with two wins in a row now sit proudly in mid table.
