Loughborough Town reclaim the top spot
LOUGHBOROUGH Town reclaimed top spot in the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League Premier Division table on Saturday with victory over Lutterworth.
They batted first against the visitors and made 295-8 with Charlie Lowen top scoring with 109 and Ben Mike hitting 75.
In reply, Lutterworth made steady progress with Lewis Hill hitting 98 but they suffered a middle order collapse slumping from 205-6 to 220 all out with none of the final seven batsmen reaching double figures. George Kenney was the pick of Town’s bowlers taking 6-47 as Town won by 75 runs.
Just two points behind Loughborough at the top are Barrow who secured a four wicket win at Langtons. They reduced Langtons to 96 all out and recovered from a nighmare start to their innings which saw them lose Jack Nightingale and Rishi Patel for ducks to reach 97-6 and victory.
Champions Sileby Town continued their resurgance with a six wicket win over Syston.
Syston batted first and were dismissed for 91with Ryan Dawson the pick of Sileby’s bowling attack taking 5-8.
In reply, Sileby eased to 92-4 to secure maximum points and climb up the table.
It was not a good day at the office for Kegworth who relinquished top spot after a comprehensine nine wicket defeat at the hands of Leicester Ivanhoe.
Kegworth batted first and were whittled out for just 77 and the hosts hit 81-1 in just 17 overs to secure the win.
