-

PHOENIX Pegasus are the new leaders in the Loughborough & District Bowls League Monday Division One after their away win at previous leaders Syston Fosseway.

Getting off to a good start with the rink skipped by Will Brune taking nine shots on the first end, Pegasus went on to collect a comfortable 62-43 (8-0) win to move them four points clear at the top. With Fosseway losing, East Leake Willows take over in second place after their emphatic 63-35 (8-0) win at Wymeswold Wolds. Shepshed Rams and Queens Park Queens also had full house victories, Rams defeating Quorn Weavels 82-33 (8-0) whilst Queens had a very good 56-39 (8-0) win at home against Thringstone Woodpeckers.

Last week’s leaders in Division 2 St Margaret’s Maggies surprisingly lost to fellow club side Saints 47-54 (3-5) resulting in Syston White Plum overhauling them at the top following their 54-35 (8-0) win against Brush Peregrines. Kegworth remain rooted at the foot of the table after they lost a close game at home to Belgrave Cygnets 50-55 (2-6) whilst the clash of the two Birstall sides Sands and Lighthouse went the way of Lighthouse 62-35 (8-0).

Rothley Crusaders remain unbeaten in Division 3 after their visit to Sileby Swallows, the visitors winning 66-35 (6-2) to move eight points clear of second placed Sutton Bonington Riversiders who beat Greenfields Badgers 42-37(6-2), Badgers only able to field two rinks and as a result have a further 2 point deduction. Soar Valley Trent hosted Phoenix Kingfishers and took the game 62-37 (6-2).

Belgrave Ringers are finding it tough in Division 4 and remain pointless following their 35-75 (0-8) defeat at the hands of leaders Wymeswold Steamers whilst Greenfields Foxes also remain pointless after their 36-66 (0-8) defeat at home to Shepshed Lambs. Soar Valley Tay had to settle for a share of the points despite winning on two of the three rinks in their match with Fosseway Romans, the Romans winning the game 50-40 (4-4).

There were no games for Thursday Divisions 1 and 2 teams this week. In Division 3 Sileby Swifts put aside their shock defeat of last week to maintained their place at the top with an emphatic 89-57 (10-0) win at home to Kegworth. Sutton Bonington kept up the chase on the leaders with a good 72-51 (8-2) away win at bottom club Soar Valley Valoars whilst Rothley Knights were always going to find it difficult at Shepshed South when they were only able to field three rinks, South victorious 64-49 (8-2). Knights will also have a further two point deduction for fielding an incomplete team.

New leaders in the Ladies Friday evening league are East Leake who took home a 37-32 (6-0) victory against hosts Syston Fosseway.
