Texfest is not just about the music (although you will be spoilt for choice)

A major new music festival launches in Leicesters­hire this summer. HAYLEY WATSON runs down all the essentials for Texfest

T HERE’S a brand new festival in town this summer. Texfest lands in Leicesters­hire on Friday June 29 for a bumper weekend of chart-topping artists and family fun. So if you’re thinking about going, what do you need to know about the newcomer on the festival circuit?

We’ve put together a guide with everything you need to know about Texfest including where it is, which acts are playing, and how you can get tickets.

Location

Texfest will be held at Market Harborough Showground, best known for hosting the Leicesters­hire County Show. It’s located just outside the market town, off Harborough Road. Road closures will be in place, so look out for the signs around the site to the relevant car park or dropping off point.

Line-up

The festival will showcase heaps of wellknown artists and up-and-coming acts alike over the three days.

Other things to do

It’s about more than the music at Texfest this summer, with lots of other activities to get stuck into.

Leicester City Football Club will be holding a penalty shoot out competitio­n, a football skills workshop, and selfies with Filbert Fox Leicester Riders and Northampto­n Saints will also be providing additional competitio­ns and family fun. Billy Bates Fun Fair will also be pitching up with rides to suit all ages.

Food traders across the site will also be offering a range of delicious dishes including vegetarian and vegan options, and cash bars will be offering beer, wine and cocktails.

Parking

On-site parking opens at noon on Friday June 29, and you must be vacated by 5pm on the Monday.

If you’re camping and need to park, head to the Weekend Car Park.

Separate parking is available for day ticket holders - on Saturday the car park opens at 9am and closes at 3am, while on Sunday it opens at 9am and closes at 12:30am.

Camping

If you fancy the full festival experience, you can camp at Texfest over the weekend.

Make sure you buy a camping ticket for the festival, which you can exchange for a wristband when you arrive.

Camping tickets cost £33 for adults and £11 for children, and must be bought on top of your festival ticket.

You can camp wherever you like within the designated camping zones, but you might want to arrive early if you have a particular­ly large tent. If you don’t fancy bringing your own tent, there will also be boutique glamping options and rent a tent services. Family and disabled camping zones are also in place. Caravans, campervans and trailer tents are also welcome - follow the signs to Texfest camping. The camping and campervan sites open at 12pm on the Fri and must be vacated by 5pm on Monday.

How to get tickets

Tickets areon sale now, and are available by the day or weekend. Weekend tickets cost £75.60 for adults, £66 for students, £44 for teens, and are free for children aged 12 and under. Friday tickets cost £33 for adults, £27.50 for students, £22 for teens, and are free for children aged 12 and under. Saturday and Sunday tickets each cost £55 for adults, £44 for students, £30.25 for teens and are also free for children aged 12 and under. All ticket prices listed include booking fees.

VIP tickets are also available for the weekend, including luxury toilets and designated viewing areas, and cost £125.60 for adults. VIP upgrades can also be bought if you decide you want one later.
