Get ready to go on a rollercoaster journey of mischief and mayhem
THE CAT IN THE HAT Curve, Leicester, December-January
A BRAND new production of Dr. Seuss’ classic story of mischief and chaos, The Cat in the Hat, has been announced as the festive offering from Leicester’s Curve this year.
It will be directed by Curve’s associate director Suba Das and run in the theatre’s 300-seat studio from December 8 to January 12.
The story follows The Cat in the Hat who steps onto a mat and takes Sally and her brother away from a dull rainy day and on a roller coaster journey of mischief and mayhem.
It will be co-produced by Curve and the Rose Theatre in Kingston, and follows collaborations including Roald Dahl’s The Witches and George’s Marvellous Medicine.
“We are positively purring with pride to announce what is sure to be another superbly playful Made at Curve production for young folk, their families and school children this Christmas,” said Curve chief executive Chris Stafford.
“Dr Seuss’ wonderfully mischievous story has entertained children around the world for generations and we are thrilled that our associate director Suba Das is charged with wrangling the anarchic cat.”
The Cat in the Hat will feature original songs from Cameron Mackintosh resident composer Tasha Taylor-Johnson, who also created songs for Curve’s recent production of George’s Marvellous Medicine.
There’ll be a number of workshops for schoolchildren during the run.
