ROYAL FAVOURITE PICKED FOR SONGS OF PRAISE. Songs of Praise came to All Saints Church Rempstone on Sunday, June 3, with a special service of favourite hymns chosen by members of the congregation.

The service held on a glorious summer’s evening was organised by Richard Babington and his wife Rosemary.

Richard played the organ while Rosemary guided the choir and congregation through the 12 poplar hymns providing the historic background to the words and music.

Hymns had been nominated for a varierty of reasons, from popular memories of school days to ones with special personal significance. They included ‘Love Divine All Loves Excelling’, ‘ To God Be the Glory’ and a late nomination following the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle ‘Lord of all Hopefullness’.

Priest in charge Reverend Tim Parker welcomed the congregation before taking his place in the choir. The evening concluded with light refreshments and a collection made for church funds.

EXERCISE. An East Leake resident Ruth Selby is starting a new high intensity interval training workout, called Metafit at Rempstone.

She describes it as a great workout for all abilities and it will start at the village hall on Wednesday 13th June at 7.45pm - 8.30pm and is suitable for all because each workout class uses your own body weight and you modify each exercise to your abilities.

Ruth admits it is hard work but says it is immensely satisfying. The charges are £4 per session or £35 for 10 sessions and there is no need to book, just turn up.

Ruth is a qualified Exercise to Music and Metafit instructor. “I’m passionate about fitness, health and wellbeing. It’s my job to understand your fitness goals and ensure you get an effective, safe and enjoyable workout.”
