Swift return on the picture
THE latest publication of an old photo from the Looking Back archives, of a group of young Loughhborough footballers, was easily identified by reader Rob Dawson - as he was the one who sent it to us in the first place 10 years ago!
Robe e-mailed to say: “I sent this to the Echo in 2010 which was exactly 40 years to the date that the photo was taken down Derby Road playing fields behind the changing rooms.
“The team were called Beacon Swifts and played in the U18 Leicestershire League. On that day we won 14-1 against Cosby Imps.
“From top left: Danny Casey (trainer) Jimmy Geddes, Geoff Smith, Keith Webster, Vic Snook, me Rob ( Digger) Dawson, David (Ben) Warner, Harry Smith (manager).
“Front left: Rob Docherty, Rob Naylor, Alan Burge, Gianni (Johnny) Papparozzi, Tommy Ryder, & Alan (Pinky) Pervin.
Thanks for re printing the photo I still have the original photo and press cutting dated October 2nd 1970. So 48 years in October.”
Jim Geddes, who is on the photo also contacted us saying: “Over 40 years ago, time flies.”
