Colourful town bus route

-

FOLLOWING the wonderful AT Warbis sketch and an old 1950s photo of a view from Southfield Road towards Barrow Street, Loughborough, another reader has sent in a brilliantly evocative picture.

John Bennett e-mailed with the photo saying: “Readers may like to see the attached picture of the view from Southfield Road towards Leicester Road.

“The original black and white photograph was taken in 1955 shortly before Allen’s bus services were acquired by Midland Red.

“The picture has been expertly coloured by Paul Media. The buses are a Leyland Titan followed by a Daimler CWA6, operating in tandem on the Leicester to Loughborough service and are about to turn into Pack Horse Lane where the service terminated.”
