Medals galore for Loughborou­gh Town swimming club

LOUGHBOROU­GH Town Swimming Club took part in the Stafford Apex Ruby Anniversar­y Meet winning nine gold, 14 silver and eight bronze medals.

Mia Larke won gold in the Senior final (14 years & over) 50m breaststro­ke and also silver in the 50m freestyle. Mia also won gold in the 16yrs and over age group for the 400m freestyle, 50m and 100m breaststro­ke, 50m freestyle, 100m Individual Medley and was second in the 100m freestyle. Abbie Ruddle made three Senior finals finishing third in the 50m butterfly, 4th in the 50m breaststro­ke and 6th in the 50m freestyle. She also placed 2nd in the 14 years 50m & 100m butterfly, 50m & 100m breaststro­ke, 3rd in the 50m freestyle and 4th in the 100m freestyle.

Thomas Chamberlai­n had a successful meet swimming taking third place in the Junior (13 years and under) final of the 50m backstroke in a personal best time (also taking 3rd in the 13 yrs age group). He also won the 13yrs 100m Individual Medley and 100m backstroke, placed second in the 400m freestyle and 5th in the 100m freestyle. In the 50m freestyle, Thomas was 6th in his own age group and placed 8th in the Junior final.

Hattie Smith reached her first ever final finishing in 5th place in the 14 years and over 50m backstroke (3rd place in the 14yrs age group). She also finished in 5th place in the 100m breaststro­ke and 7th in the 100m freestyle and 50m breaststro­ke. Will Stone finished 8th in the Senior 50m freestyle - 2nd place in the 14yrs age group - and was also 2nd in the 14yrs 100m Individual Medley. He also placed 4th in the 50m butterfly and 5th in the 100m breaststro­ke.

Willem Muddimer placed 7th in the Junior 50m breaststro­ke final and was 3rd in the 13 years age group. He also placed 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley and 100m breaststro­ke, 4th in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly and 5th in the 50m freestyle.

In the 9 yrs age group, Nyree Peach won silver in the 50m backstroke and finished 4th in the 50m freestyle and 100m Individual Medley. Sofia Philips placed 8th in the 50m breaststro­ke and also swam personal best times in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.

In the 10 years age group Elizabeth Palfrey won the 400m freestyle, took silver in the 100m backstroke and third in the 100m freestyle. Niamh Muddimer finished 4th in the 400m and also placed in the top 8 for the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m & 100m breaststro­ke and 100m Individual Medley. Fitz Fantham was 6th in the 100m freestyle, 7th in the 100m Individual Medley and 8th in the 50m backstroke. Toby James was 6th in the 100m Individual Medley and 100m backstroke, 7th in the 50m breaststro­ke and 8th in the 50m butterfly and 100m breaststro­ke.

Francesca Palfrey (11 years) won gold in the 100m and 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly and was second in the 100m backstroke. She was also 4th in the 100m Individual medley. For the 11 year old boys’, James Lake was 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley, 3rd in the 100m freestyle & 50m butterfly and 6th in the 100m breaststro­ke.

Alfie Molloy placed 5th in the 50m Breaststro­ke and 6th in the 50m freestyle. Cerys Peach won silver in the 12 yrs 400m freestyle and was 4th in the 50m and 100m backstroke. George Larke swam two personal best times in the 50m freestyle and butterfly (7th place) and also finished 6th in the 14years 50m breaststro­ke and 7th in the 100m Individual Medley.

Loughborou­gh Town Swimming Club’s season continues with the Nottingham­shire Sports League and final round of the Diddy League later in June.
