THIS year’s ‘ Race for Life’ in Loughborou­gh has been hailed a fantastic success with organisers revealing that the event is estimated to have raised £44,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The 5km event took place on Sunday (June 10) setting off from the Market Place, leaving the town centre and going through Queen’s Park before finishing back in the Market Place.

Loughborou­gh folk turned out in force to offer their support to the competitor­s adding to the great atmosphere of the event as the town turned into a sea of pink with the hundreds of people taking part in the ever popular fund-raiser.

A spokesman for the Race For Life organising team said: “There were more than 800 ladies that crossed the finish line and we are looking to raise a massive £44,000 from the event.

“It was a fantastic day, with amazing weather and great atmosphere at the finish line.”
