U3A set for next meeting
WHITWICK and District U3A will hold its next monthly General Meeting on Friday,June 15.
For retired people, or those approaching retirement, this is a chance to discover the opportunities for new learning experiences and friendships within a local, thriving organisation. There are almost fifty Interest Groups with something to suit most tastes from the traditional to the technological.
The speaker at June’s meeting will be Bev Smith, CEO of North West Leicestershire District Council.
Bev’s talk will focus on her own career and the latest developments at the District Council. Before taking up her current post a year ago, Bev has been a police officer and worked in local government in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Regeneration projects have been her special interest.
To listen to Bev and find out more about Whitwick and District U3A, come along to St. David’s Church Hall, Broom Leys, Coalville LE67 4RL at 1.45 for a 2pm start.
The U3A is a non-political and non-religious organisation: everyone is welcome.
In addition, you can call in at the U3A marquee, which will be decorated in blue and yellow, at Coalville’s Picnic in the Park on Sunday, June 24.
Members will be there waiting to hand out information leaflets and chat about the benefits of belonging to the U3A.
