Rainbows building work to start

THE long-awaited start on building Rainbows’ hospice was due to get underway.

Lawyers handling the legal aspect of the hospice had reached an agreement on the 999 year lease.

Quorn developers, Fairmeadow Ltd had donated the site and the building to Rainbows and handing over the Charnwood borough Council the freehold of the land so as to protect it from alternative use in the future.

Wait until the next century for roads

IT WAS announced that Loughborough’s two main road building projects, the Epinal Way extension and the inner relief road, would not be going ahead until the 21st century.

The news from County Hall dismayed and angered local politicians and businesses.

The Epinal Way scheme, from Shelthorpe to Quorn would not go ahead before 2001-2002 and people would have to wait until 2005 for the inner relief road.
