SHEPSHED Rugby Club is urging the local community to help the club this weekend as part of a nationwide initiative to assist rugby clubs in improving their facilities.

The club is taking part in NatWest RugbyForce, a nationwide programme developed in partnership with the RFU, which aims to help community rugby clubs become stronger businesses.

This weekend (June 23/24) the club, based at Iveshead School in Shepshed, is hoping club members, members of the community and local businesses will be on hand for a weekend of DIY to help the club with a num- ber of projects.

The club’s press officer Tom Pitt said: “The NatWest RugbyForce Weekend is an opportunity for all club members and the local community to come together for a weekend of DIY.

“Tasks will be from as small and as basic painting and decorating, gardening and landscaping in the main areas and entrances to AV equipment installation, building a new bar and plumbing jobs.

“Natwest RugbyForce gives us the chance to upgrade our facilities which allows us to provide a better experience for our players, members and the local community. A lot of work has gone into protecting the future of the club after a few hard years, and for that work to be recognised and rewarded by the RFU and Natwest is just fantastic for everyone involved.

“It’s also a great chance for the community and local businesses to lend a hand and be part of something truly special. We aim to build on the great culture we’ve built since the inception of the new junior section and the Natwest RugbyForce weekend will help us in a huge way

“We’re grateful for any amount of time businesses or locals can commit to but we promise some good banter and some food and refreshments on the go throughout the day, so please come and support us.”

Members of the rugby club taking part in the project will be at the ground from 10am4pm on Saturday and Sunday .
