Award for sport degree students

-

THE ANNUAL announcement for Dissertation of the Year has named two Loughborough College Sport degree students as winners.

Now in its seventh year, the College’s Higher Education Sport Research Forum saw more than 100 students on the Sport Science with Management, Sport Science and Sports Coaching degree courses showcase their final BSc projects before both Sam Taylor and Harriet Hollis were revealed in the top spot.

Nick Ashley, Higher Education Sport programme lead at Loughborough College said: “The calibre of Sam and Harriet’s work meant we simply couldn’t decide on an overall winner so the £100 prize for Dissertation of the Year was shared between them.

“It’s a great event when everyone looks back on the students’ time with us and we get the chance to celebrate all together, for some for the last time as sporting commitments mean they are unable to attend graduation.”

Harriet Hollis’ dissertation, supervised by Dr Andrew Brinkley, focused on Sport psychology and was titled ‘Resilience in DualCareer Athletes: Does Student Type Predict Greater Resilience and Psychological Wellbeing?’ Sam Taylor concentrated on strength and conditioning for his project, ‘The Effects of Different Durations of Self-Myofascial Release on Range of Motion and Jump Performance’, which was supervised by Dr Joe Shepherd.
