Summer fete invite to the public

-

THE Community Association for the Hastings Ward in Loughborough are putting on a summer fete at Carillon Cricket Club on Sunday, June 24, from noon-4pm.

There will be music, bouncy castle, sporting activities for children, face painting, crafts, hook a duck, fashion, community stalls and licensed bar.

Last year they had glorious sunshine and 420 people came along to enjoy the fete. Entry is free and there is loads to do.

Chair of the Community Association, Jules Ford, said: “This is going to be an amazing event put on by the community for the community. Come along to have great fun and chill out in the sun.

“It’s been a joy working with local people to put on this fete. It’s been a fabulous fusion of energy, dedication and time to bring this wonderful event to life. It’s, open to all local residents, to join in the fun of a traditional community fete, with a new wave of freshness from a beautiful and diverse community.”

Vice chair, Tobias Gould said: “Last year one of the most popular activities was sitting in a police car, putting on a the hat, and switching on the sirens. Local allotment holders heard the continuous sirens, guessed it was a fete, but wondered at what was kicking off at the cricket club.”

The England vs Panama match will be shown in a big screen in the bar.

If you like fashion come along to see the Muto Bus. Muto is a fashion brand that takes clothing confiscated by HM Customs, and repurposes it for sale. All profits go to charity.

The cricket club is on Moor Lane, LE11 1ST, just off Empress Road. You go over a canal bridge and down a dusty track.

There is limited parking at the fete, but you can drop off at the club house and then find parking on the streets around Great Central Park.
