Barrow Town win top of the table clash
BARROW Town took over at the top of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League Premier Division with victory in their top of the table clash with Loughborough Town.
It was Loughborough who won the toss and elected to field, with Barrow making a steady reaching 61 before losing their first wicket when Jack Nightingale was out for 24.
Wickets fell steadily but opener Ramesh Kara provided the cornerstone of the innings hitting 150 before he was caught off the bowling of Anish Patel with the score at 260-8, and the innings closed with Barrow making 262-9.
In reply Loughborough lost Anish Patel for five with the score at 12-1 and were struggling at 58-4 before a partnership of 108 between Tom Wells and Shyam Patel got Town back on track. Wells went for 75 and Patel departed for 57 and despite a knock of 34 from Kaz Saddington, Loughborough fell short of their target making 254-8 to give Barrow a narrow eight run win.
In other Premier Division clashes it was a day to forget for Kegworth who crashed to a 10 wicket away defeat at the hands of Kibworth.
Batting first they were all out for 94 with just two batsmen reaching double figures while in reply Kibworth reached their target in 14 overs without losing a wicket.
There was another defeat for champions Sileby who lost by five wickets at home against Barkby United.
Batting first they made 245-8 with Liam Kinch top scoring with 71. In reply, Barkby won on the penultimate ball of the game reaching 246-5 for victory.
