Tasty dino for ‘Dippy on Tour’
A CHOCOLATE diplodocus has hatched from its egg at Cadbury World as the attraction’s talented team of in-house chocolatiers celebrate the Birminghambased leg of ‘Dippy on Tour’.
Weighing in at almost 30kg – the equivalent of 667 bars of standard Cadbury Dairy Milk – and measuring 45cm tall, the Jurassic creation took two chocolatiers two days to bring to life.
The dinosaur – affectionately known as ‘Baby Dippy’ at the attraction – inquisitively pokes his head round the cracked shell as though eager to take in his new surroundings. The solid milk chocolate design has been almost entirely handsculpted and finished with the attention to detail synonymous with the famed team of chocolatiers – even including meticulously hand-piped bumps on the surface to emulate the texture of his skin.
Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World said: “Our artistic chocolatiers are renowned for making magnificent creations to mark a vast variety of special occasions, and this latest masterpiece demonstrates their creativity and world class skills.
“We’re delighted to welcome Dippy on Tour to our wonderful city and couldn’t be happier to be part of the celebrations. Our chocolate creation will be on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery from July 3 – we can’t wait for everyone to see him!”
Visitors can catch the Natural History Museum’s popular Diplodocus at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery until September 9 where entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
