Quarter finals results mean last four line up in Monday Trophy will both be all Division One affairs
IT WILL be an all Loughborough & District Bowls League Division 1 semi-final in the Monday Trophy. Wymeswold Wolds 51-37 (6-2) victory over Division 2 Birstall Lighthouse ensured them a home tie in the next round against Shepshed Rams who had an emphatic 97-31 (8-0) win at Charnwood Road against Division 3 Phoenix Kingfishers.
Thringstone Woodpeckers also won against Division 3 opponents, defeating Greenfields Badgers in a close game 56-50 (6-2) to seal a semi-final home game against Quorn Weavels following their 74-37 (8-0) win at Division 3 Brush Hawks. Semi-final games to be played on August 6, at 2pm.
Greenfields Badgers missed an opportunity to go to the top of Monday Division 3 after suffering a 43-51 (3-5) defeat at the hands of Sileby Swallows in a re-arranged fixture.
Syston Fosseway moved nine points clear of rivals Thringstone Rangers in the Thursday Division 1 after a 85-56 (8-2) win against Brush Eagles whilst in a close scoring game Shepshed North to the bulk of the points against bottom side New Lount Hares 66-63 (8-2).
It’s very close all round in Division 2 where East Leake Willows hang on to the top spot with a 81-57 (8-2) win against Loughborough Greenfields whilst Quorn Millers take over in second place after their 71-59 (8-2) win against St Margaret’s Maggies. Phoenix Flyers move into mid table following their first home game of the season with a 79-62 (8-2) victory against local rivals Queens Park Carilloners.
Sileby Swifts continue to dominate in Division 3 with a good 77-60 (8-2) win at home against Shepshed South but Kegworth haven’t given up the chase yet following their 98-55 (10-0) victory over Soar Valley Valoars. Meanwhile the local derby game between hosts Soar Valley and Rothley Knights went in favour of the home side 72-69 (8-2).
In the Ladies Friday Evening League Syston Fosseway collected their long awaited first points of the season with a very good away win 28-24 (4-2) at Rothley, whilst leaders Shepshed Lambs extended their lead at the top with a solid 45-24 (6-0) win at home against Loughborough Greenfields. Second placed Wymeswold suffered a setback in their chase for the title when they went down 29-33 (0-6) at home to New Lount.
