-

CASTLE Donington RUFC is building on its successes of last season with the aim of launching extra junior sides at the club.

Under the leadership of nerw chairman Darren Summers aided by amazing volunteers who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. the senior men have seen a growth in numbers allowing for competition for starting places and its newly created girls section now boasts over 40 girls attending sessions and matches.

Mini and Junior Chairman Nick Woodland said: “It has been amazing coming to a club seen as a pub side but with all of the values needed to make a proper rugby club, become a family rugby club. Their support has allowed us to grow the club and has enthused the volunteers to do the best for our club and hopefully, with the success of the trial period, our club will have an U6 and U7 side to compliment the U11, U13, U15, U18 girls and senior mens come next season.”

The club has been very proactive on and off the field with a long list of club socials for all age groups ad a busy summer of supporting local events to continue to be a rugby club at the heart of its community.

Senior chairman Darren Summers said: “It has been a very busy season but the men have had a few weeks off and have come back to preseason training with our new head coach Neil Whitehead and have shown great dedication and effort.

“The club has been able to add to the committee which has injected another level of desire to push the club forward which makes me even prouder to be a part of this club.”
