We don’t want this solar farm

-

I AM writing on behalf of myself and I think I can speak for my neighbours, to say that we do not want the 100 acre Solar Farm installed on the farmland along Nottingham Road. It is far too big. We are not by any means Nimby’s but we have to live and work with these fields, we understand the nature and the historical and archeological importance of these fields.

If this monstrosity goes ahead, it will not only affect the farmers by cutting short their livelihood, but it will effect the area where we have great crested newts, badgers alongside a myriad of beautiful wildflowers.

The land is flood plains so the solar panels will most probably have to be raised so that the view when coming into Loughborough via the train line will be impeded as all they will see will be the solar farm. Please, please don’t let them get away with this.

If they want to rent land to install solar farms, then let them be put on top of buildings, factories etc.etc. Not on our green fields.

We think that energy over food produce is very short term thinking, when we have nothing to eat and have to import our food at astronomical prices.

The farmers will be blamed for taking money instead of making food. In this instance it will be the big corporations that will be profiteering over the little farmer. No, No, No solar farm. Please.

Angela Severn-Morrell, Nottingham Road, Loughborough.
