Head shaved for mum’s cancer journey
LOUGHBOROUGH Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Adam Atkinson is ‘braving the shave’ by having his head shaved for charity to support his mum’s journey through treatment for breast cancer.
Adam’s son Kenan (13) is also taking part to support his dad and grandma.
Adam’s mum, Annette, has been receiving treatment since early 2018. The family have had an exceptionally testing year and as well as being keen to raise money and awareness for Macmillan and their research into breast cancer, Adam is keen to put a smile back on Annette’s face and make this year memorable for the right reasons.
The team at Petra Bentley Hair in Loughborough will be doing the honours with the clippers on Wednesday, August 15, visiting Adam at the station at 8am before the salon opens for the day.
Adam was keen to book in before his summer holiday so that he can get an even tan on his head - which of course would normally be covered in hair!
Adam said: “It’s been a really tough year and it’s been hard seeing my mum unwell. However, she is taking all of this in her stride and has maintained her typical stoic attitude.
“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my amazing team for their understanding and flexibility during what has been a particularly testing few months.
“I am fund-raising for Brave the Shave via their website, any sponsorship would be greatly appreciated - https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/adam-atkinson.”
