LOUGHBOROUGH Market Place is set to see the return of its popular and much loved ‘Loughborough By The Sea’ event next week.

Organised by Love Loughborough, the event, from Sunday, August 12, to Wednesday, August 15, will see the centre filled with fairground rides, donkey rides, stalls, craft activities and not forgetting water features and lots of sand to play in.

This year promises to be better than ever with Loughborough taking delivery of a record amount of 13 tonnes of sand so there will be plenty for the children to play in and make wonderful sandcastles between the opening hours of the event of 10am-4pm.

As in previous years, there is the much loved traditional Punch and Judy show and Princess Pals that will be returning on the Sunday to entertain all the family.

Every day is set to be packed full of

fun from ‘Archery Legends’ coming to show their archery on Monday, Hair Braiding on Tuesday and activities and crafts from Bearded Squirrel and Creations Pottery, to name a few on the other days.

The four-day event will also have a Seaside Trail, where children will be tasked with finding posters that are dotted around the town to win a goody bag and the wonderful Sandcastle competitions that will run every day.

This year there are prizes for the sandcastle competitions, some of which have been kindly donated by Dolcinos, Loughborough Leisure Centre, McDonald’s and Archery Legends.

Loughborough BID’s chairman Lez Cope-Newman said: “We welcome everyone to this event; the whole town is filled with joy and it is a highlight of Loughborough’s calendar.

“Love Loughborough enjoys bringing this event to our Market Place so that everyone can enjoy the fun of the seaside on their own doorstep.”
