THE ever-popular Mountsorrel Revival event is back again this Sunday, August 12.

Mountsorrel Community Team (MCT) said it pleased to announce that Revival18 will open at 11am.

Residents of the village and surrounding area are invited to go along and enjoy the day.

Organisers MCT says the event is not only bigger and better, but again totally focused on the community coming together to celebrate and having fun.

With a range of new attractions and activities the team says it has worked hard to respond to the feedback from previous years.

Debbie MacRae, the chair of MCT, told the Echo: “We are all so excited to be putting on our fifth Revival. It is always a great day and is the one day in the year when the whole community comes together.

“This year we will have the new Memorial Centre available to us and we have many new and established attractions booked in.

“Of course, an event such as Revival only happens after a lot of work behind the scenes that carries on from one event to the next.

“One of the team’s concerns is always public safety and as the event gets bigger changes are needed to ensure that everyone who visits the village has a safe and happy time.

“For this reason, road closures this year to include the Green and Watling Street, giving greater freedom for people to move around safely.

“The team’s other main concern is always affordability and access. Thanks to its sponsors and supporters, MCT has again managed to keep overall costs low, giving away a free programme and seeking to ensure that all the attractions are reasonably priced.”

A number of charities will benefit and again emphasis has been placed on local fundraising.

Ross Tomlyn, one of the event managers said: “As a local group the MCT want to ensure that Revival primarily focuses on the local community.

“In that way it supports, organisations, businesses and charities that are based in or serve residents who live in Mountsorrel and its surrounding villages.

“In terms of access this year Revival18 has more car park spaces available. Alongside allocated spaces in the car parks, additional spaces for Blue Badge holders will be available in the Memorial Centre Car Park on Leicester Road.”
