Incredible challenges on offer to help Rainbows...
Fancy skydiving or walking the Great Wall of China?
RAINBOWS Hospice for Children and Young People is offering a series of challenging events with the motivational incentive of doing so to raise cash for life-limited youngsters.
Ever fancied taking on the Great Wall of China, or trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco?
The Loughborough children’s hospice is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary – and is inviting people across the East Midlands to take up a challenge to help support the charity.
The hospice, which cares for youngsters and their families across the region, has a packed programme of exciting events and activities to offer for the year ahead to help raise funds.
That includes anything from skydiving to cycling, mountain climbing to marathon running. And there are adventurous treks across Morocco and China for those with a taste for exotic and challenging experience overseas.
Community fund-raiser and mother-of-three Alison Furlong faced her lifelong fear of heights to take part in a skydive for Rainbows.
She said: “It was something I felt I had to do. That’s despite finding the idea terrifying – I’m even afraid of going into the loft!
“But as someone who had a little boy cared for by Rainbows, it is something I felt I wanted to do for the son I still feel is with me in everything I do - and for a cause so very close to my heart.”
An invitation has been issued to join Alison at Rainbows hospice in Loughborough on Thursday, September 6, from 6pm at a special Challenge Event Information Evening to find the perfect challenge to help raise money for the charity.
She will be joined by Terry Crosby, director of Travel and Trek, the firm organising the Morocco and China treks.
He said: “These are amazing adven- tures that those who take part will always remember. And what better reason to take up such a challenge than a charity like Rainbows.”
The free, no-obligation evening will provide you with information on a range of challenges – or you might have an idea for your own. On the night you will get information about the variety of challenges available and hear from those who have completed challenging events themselves.
There is an offer of £25 off the registration fee for certain challenges if you sign up on the night.
