On a red hot day Shepshed batted first and it was a superb knock by Williams who was the star of the show as he stroked the ball around the ground in some style which included a couple of massive sixes in a innings of real quality.

He was backed up by Calum Doyle who was back in form scoring 48. Wickets tumbled but scores of 22 from Karl Shaw and 25 from Adam Clapton saw Shepshed reach 269 for 8.

The Shepshed bowlers wasted no time in getting stuck into the Narborough batsman and the home side were at one stage reeling on 7-2 but Narborough battled back and runs started to flow but it was the introduction of Christian Booth who returned figures of 6-53 who put the match back in Shepshed‘s favour as Narborough were eventually bowled out for 158.

Shepshed sit proudly in second place in Division Three of the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League, 39 points clear of third placed Hinckley Town but only 14 points behind leaders Ashby Hast- ings so with seven games to go it is all to play for and next up for Shepshed is a home game against bottom of the table Ratby C.C.

Elsewhere, Shepshed 2nd XI were at home to Appleby Magna 1sts in an entertaining game with 15-yearold Jake Lister top scoring with 82 in an innings of pure class. Paul Myers hit 44 and a quick fire 29 from Elliot Morley saw Shepshed finishing on 219 all out.

Shepshed fielded and bowled really well but were frustrated by a century from Rodgers who scored 109 despite Dave Kershaw who was the pick of the Shepshed bowlers taking 3-47 from only nine overs, it was not to be as Appleby finished on 224 for 5 to take the points.
