‘Early bird’ discount on adult learning courses
HUNDREDS of part-time day, evening and weekend courses are now available from the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service.
People who would like to learn a new skill, improve their job prospects or develop a new interest are being urged to visit www.leicestershire.gov.uk/golearn to find out more.
There will also be a 10 per cent ‘early bird discount’ on course tuition fees for people who enrol before Friday, August 31.
Coun Richard Blunt, county council cabinet member for heritage, leisure and arts, said: “We know the courses available through the service can make a real difference to people’s lives as they are designed to help learners back into the job market, improve their maths and English as well as their health and wellbeing. The courses can also support their children’s learning.
“I’d encourage people to have a look at the courses on offer as it’s a great opportunity for them to try something different.”
To find out more, search and enrol online at www.leicestershire.gov.uk/ golearn or call the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service on 0800 988 0308 to speak to an advisor, who can provide information on the courses and fees, including paying by instalments. The lines are open from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday.
Anyone in receipt of certain benefits, or on a low income, can receive a 70 per cent discount on adult education courses, or may be entitled to attend for free.
The range of courses include employability and Skills for jobs courses; courses for learners who first language is not english (esol); learning for confidence and better mental health courses; courses for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties; free english and maths courses for adults; language courses available from beginner to more advanced level; computer courses for beginners through to those with more advanced specialist requirements; traineeships and apprenticeships; a wide range of courses for relaxation and wellbeing, including arts, crafts and fitness.
