Leicestershire CC partnership with Ratcliffe College

-

LEICESTERSHIRE County Cricket Club and Ratcliffe College have unveiled a new cricketing partnership.

Ratcliffe College is to become the official home venue for the Leicestershire Young Cricketers’ Under 12 to Under 15 County Cricket programme. The first matches under this partnership will be hosted at Ratcliffe next summer.

Leicestershire CCC Academy Director Andy Siddall said: “This new partnership will greatly benefit the Young Cricketers’ programme as the club will enjoy using the excellent cricket facilities at Ratcliffe for home fixtures.

“In previous years, our fixtures have been held at Ratcliffe College and at local clubs where we have been most grateful for the support from the Leicestershire cricketing network. However, it will be a major step forward to have a permanent summer cricketing base at Ratcliffe College for our younger age groups in an idyllic setting.”

“We are really looking forward to working closely with Ratcliffe College and are excited by the Headmaster’s new vision for the College’s cricket programme. Our intention is to help the College develop its own cricket programme by supporting coaching and player development through Master Classes and aligning the College’s cricket curriculum with our coaching philosophy.”

In addition, Ratcliffe College continues to invest in its facilities, which includes a new pavilion. The College’s ground staff continue to receive expert advice and support from their fellow groundsmen at Leicestershire CCC.

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “It’s brilliant to strike up an exciting partnership with Ratcliffe College and I’m so pleased to see them taking their cricket programme to new heights.”

Headmaster of Ratcliffe College, Mr Jonathan Reddin, warmly endorsed this exciting new initiative. He said: “Ratcliffe College is very excited about our partnership with Leicestershire County Cricket Club. We have enjoyed a strong relationship with the club for

many years, but this new initiative will help our boys and girls develop their talents even further.

“Ratcliffe College is blessed with stunning grounds, and these will provide the perfect backdrop for

budding cricketers and their families and friends to enjoy playing and spectating. We are immensely proud of this new venture, and look forward to working closely with the coaches from Leicestershire CC.”
