Nominations open for sports awards

NOMINATIONS are now open for North West Leicestershire’s annual celebration of sporting excellence and dedication.

The North West Leicestershire Local Sports Alliance Sports Awards return to Hermitage Leisure Centre in Whitwick on Thursday, November 15.

The night provides an opportunity for the community to recognise and reward local athletes, coaches, volunteers, sports clubs and schools within North West Leicestershire whose achievements and leadership inspire and motivate others.

Nominations can be made at www.northwestleicslsa.org.uk/sportsawards in 15 categories for athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and schools who have achieved in the world of sport between September 2017 and September 2018. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, September 16.

Counc Alison Smith, deputy leader and portfolio holder for community services at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “Sports coaches, clubs and teams can make such a positive impact on people’s lives – helping them to be active and achieve their goals. This is your chance to nominate the teams, sportspeople, coaches and volunteers that you feel deserve recognition for their services to sport in our district.

“I know we have some hugely talented and devoted unsung heroes in North West Leicestershire that are incredibly deserving of praise, and it’ll be great to once again see them gathered at the annual awards night.”
