Recorded Music Society session
LOUGHBOROUGH Recorded Music Society is starting its 58th season today (Wednesday, September 12).
The society was founded in 1961 – when vinyl was cool the first time round!
A spokesperson said: “Although most of the music we listen to is classical, our programmes often include music of other genres including rock, pop and jazz.
“Our members are drawn from a variety of backgrounds including musicians, choral singers, and those with a keen interest in listening to and learning about music. We also have a couple of technically minded audiophiles who repair and build audio equipment.
“We meet every two weeks at the Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club on Ingle Pingle, from September through to the beginning of May. Our meetings start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm.
“For the first time this year, we will be offering reduced visitor’s charges and membership fees for students.
“All are welcome to come along to our meetings at the lawn tennis club. For visitors we levy a small charge of £4 (students £1) to help towards speaker and room costs. If any visitors then wish to join the society, we will deduct the visitor’s fee paid from the membership subscription (£40, students £15).”
