A SHEPSHED woman is stopping passers-by in their tracks with her magical garden.

Carol Airey has created a wonderful garden at her Longcliffe Road home which has neighbours full of praise for the effort she has put in.

Pamela Clay said: “All the children who live nearby always stop to have a look at Carol’s fairy garden. It really is magical and she deserves some recognition for it.”

Carol (55) told the Echo she started working on the garden when she moved into the house in 2017 as therapy for her fibromyalgia, a long term condition that causes pain all over the body.

She changes and adds items at Christmas and at Easter and children also like to hide rocks in the garden.

“I created a little path and then added some stepping stones and then put some fairies in the garden, as well as creating a little pebble beach area.

“All the children love it and it’s good therapy for me - I can’t work because of my health issues, but I like to keep busy. It’s nice to get complements for the garden and I’m glad that so many people seem to enjoy it.

“I have had some items damaged by local youths but they won’t spoil it for the children. I’ve loved seeing the reaction on the children’s faces so it’s totally been worth every minute.”
