Mystery helicopter and Towles

-

HERE are some more photographs from the Sharman family collection.

Cecilia Sharman’s late husband Michael, was a director at the old H E Godkin hosiery factory in Loughborough, and has previously has sent us some marvellous photos from the place.

And now she has sent another pair, but they have an air of mystery about them.

They are photos of a helicopter that used to land in the garden of a big house in Castledine Street, Loughborough. Cecilia mum took the photos from her bedroom window at 82 Park Road in the 1970s. Does anyone remember this?

Godkin’s factory was bought by Towles in 1974 and Cecilia’s son, John, has also sent us some photographs from his days there when he was learning the business.

John said: “I have found some old photos of Towles yarn cellar workmates from about 1984.

“I am in the white shirt and Cliff Leader in the Leicester Tigers shirt. Also, Martin in the diamond tank top, Simon in the blue cardigan and ‘big’ Phil Tooley in the check shirt.”

• Do you know anything about these pictures?

Whose house was it where the helicopter landed?

Also can you provide us the surnames of Martin and Simon from the Towles pics and perhaps some more information everybody photographed?
