Leigh on verge of title glory

-

HATHERN race ace Harry Leigh stands on the verge of his most important title success to date when he competes in the Thundersport GB Superteens series at Cadwell Park this weekend (September 22/23).

In the previous round at Anglesey Coastal circuit, Leigh reinforced his title credentials with four wins over the weekend which puts him a massive 175 points ahead at the top of the championship table.

Riding for Hopkins Racing on a Kawasaki Ninja 300, in race one racing in wet conditions, Leigh took the chequered flag ahead of Cameron Dawson, and in race two despite getting slowed by back markers, it was Leigh who again took first place, with Dawson on the podium in second place.

The second day of racing saw drier conditions, Leigh was overtaken at the start of the race but fought back to regain the advantage and hold on to beat Max Lofthouse by just 0.2 seconds.

The final race of the day saw Leigh complete a fourth victory, nearly six seconds ahead of Max Lofthouse and smash a lap record that stood for five years with a time of 1.15.69.

At Cadwell Park, Leigh could secure enough points to clinch the title before the final round of the championship takes place at Snetterton in October.

It has been a fantastic campaign so far for the teenage race ace who is also in the running to take part in the 2019 British Talent Cup after making it through to the final shortlist of 12 at a selection event at Silverstone.

Leigh said: “I was made up to be one of the 12, it’s fantastic. Part of getting through to the selection was to spend a day at the superb Silverstone Day of Champions, I got to meet the stars of Moto GP which was great.

“I’m absolutely living the dream, thank you so much for everyone that helps and supports me.”
