New councillor elected for borough Birstall Wanlip ward

CONSERVATIVE Shona Rattray has been elected as the new councillor for Charnwood Borough’s Birstall Wanlip ward.

The election, last Thursday, followed the resignation of Tory, Coun Renata Jones. Charlotte Mary Clancy, of The Green Party, polled 34 votes, Norman Cutting, of UKIP, 50 votes, Abdul Khayer of the Labour Party, 340 votes, Carolyn Julia Mann, the Liberal Democrats, 128 votes and Shona Rattray, the Conservative Party, elected with 492 votes.
