Tyre burst as aircraft comes into land
EAST Midlands Airport was closed after a tyre burst on a Ryanair aircraft as it came in to land from Spain.
Airlive reported the runway was closed to other air traffic and inbound flights were holding or diverting on Friday, September 14.
The passengers were reportedly told to disembark from the Barcelona flight and taken on a bus back to the terminal.
All inbound traffic was either being held or diverted to Birmingham.
A spokeswoman for Ryanair said: “The aircraft operating this flight from Barcelona to East Midlands suffered a burst tyre on landing at East Midlands Airport.
“Customers disembarked and were transferred to the terminal by bus and engineers will repair the aircraft and return it to service.”
