Town recycle and waste site to be closed for 12 weeks

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Recycling and Household Waste Site is to temporarily close next week for essential maintenance works.

The work is to take place over a 12-week period and the site is planned to close from the evening of Wednesday, September 26.

The closure will allow Leicestershire County Council to carry out necessary drainage work as well as maintenance to other areas within the Railway Terrace site.

Coun Blake Pain, county council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this temporary closure will cause.

“We would encourage people to visit our website to find their closest alternative site, and to think about when they plan to visit, as nearby sites may be busier than usual.”

Anyone wanting to use an alternative waste site during the closure period, can visit the nearby Mountsorrel site on Granite Way or the Shepshed site on Hathern Road.

To minimise disruption, the Mountsorrel facility will be open from 9am to 4pm, seven days a week for the duration of the closure. The Shepshed site will remain closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Permits for the Loughborough waste site will be accepted at both Mountsorrel and Shepshed during the closure.
