Loughborough Echo

Many have had to put up with this for years

-

WE HAVE, over the years, had numerous letters to the Echo plus reportage on the anti social behaviour of students and studentification has become a major concern of neighbourhood groups.

It is sometimes perceived that some councillors do not appreciate the gravity of this, possibly because they are not exposed to it.

We now have a letter from the mother of a son whose friend has acquired an HMO who admits they have - quote: “Moved out of halls as they don’t like students much either and are sick of living in noisy squalor.”

Many permanent residents in certain areas of the town have had to put up with this for years. Whilst her son and friends may be fine what happens if this HMO becomes accommodation for less responsible students?

Every year or so different students may take up occupancy and the apprehensive cry what will this next lot be like?

It really is unfair on council tax paying permanent residents.
