Car seats checks

POTENTIALLY lethal car seats fittings were found during checks carried out by Loughborough Police.

Officers checked a total of 28 car seats and 13 seated children.

Of those, 10 seats were dangerously fitted which police say could have proved fatal in the event of a crash.

Nine seats were fitted correctly and needed no adjustment, while another nine would have worked in a crash but not to their optimum ability.

Three children were seated correctly and needed no adjustment, but the other 10 might have had worse injuries in a crash due to not being seated correctly.

Only two were perfect out of all of these, that included the seats being fitted correctly and the children seated correctly in them.
