Benefit claimants figures revealed
LATEST figures for the labour market in the Loughborough area have been revealed.
In August, the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Universal Credit was 1,025, an increase of 55 on last month (+5.7%) and an increase of 105 on last year (+11.4%) with an employment rate of 69.7%.
Of claimants aged 18 to 24, there were 195, an increase of 10 on last month (+5.4%) but a decrease of 20 on last year (-9.3%).
For claimants aged 50-plus there were 315, an increase of 20 on last month (+6.8%) and an increase of 35 on last year (+12.5%).
The number of claimants on benefits for more than six months totalled 195, a decrease of five on last month (-2.5%) but an increase of 5 on last year (+2.6.0%).
And the number of long term (six month-plus) claimants aged between 18 and 24 years totalled 15, an increase of 5 on last month (+50.0%) and an increase of 5 on last year (+50.0%).
