Watermill opening its doors to public
SHEPSHED Watermill will open its doors to the public on Sunday, September 23, giving visitors the chance to learn and enjoy this 1,000-year-old landmark.
Shepshed Watermill is an historic mill dating back and recorded in the Doomsday Book 1080. The mill was once part of the Garendon Estate until the mid-1970s. Now under private ownership, the mill has been restored and received a national award in 2003 from The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
During the open day, the water wheel and stones will be grinding flour in a similar fashion to its centuries of operation. There will also be a working blacksmiths area along with a tea room and vintage cars on display.
No need to book ahead, turn up anytime between 11.30am and 4.30pm.
