LOUGHBOROUGH cricketer Katie Winterton is swapping her cricket pads for running shoes as she prepares to take part in her first half marathon this weekend.

Katie, who last year was part of the England team which took part in the Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai, is taking part in the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on September 30.

The wicket-keeper who plays for Leicestershire Leopards is raising money for LOROS in memory of two people who have supported her cricketing career, Harry Wells and Sharon Kenney.

She said: “Harry Wells and his family, especially Val and Andi, have supported me throughout my life mainly with my sporting career and especially with my cricket. Sadly Harry has recently passed away and I wanted to do something in aid of Harry and as a thank you for all the support he has given to me.

“Sharon Kenney sadly passed away in March. Sharon was a very special lady who was the longest servant and supporter of Indoor Cricket and the wider indoor family worldwide and was loved by many. LOROS supported Sharon and her family throughout her last days and I wanted to raise money for LOROS as a small way to say thank you for all their ongoing time and effort and support.”
