Warm welcome for new church minister

Rev Nigel Riley takes on Baptist Church role

THE Deacons and Fellowship at Charnwood Road Baptist Church say they are pleased to announce that Rev Nigel Riley was Inducted to the Pastorate of the church on 1st September 1

Nigel has moved from the north east with his wife Margaret and two of their four sons and are living at the manse.

The service was well attended by the church fellowship, members of other Shepshed Churches and the Soar Valley Gospel Partnershi­p churches, The service was led by Rev Tony Haley and Rev. Mark Clay, East Midlands Baptist Associatio­n Team Leader.

The address was given by Rev Graham Criddle, Minister at Tamworth Baptist Church and greetings were given by Dr. Jonathan Gichaara on behalf of Churches Together in Shepshed, Rev Ian Smith on behalf of the Soar Valley Gospel Partnershi­p and Coun Jane Lennie on behalf of the Community of Shepshed.

Church Secretary Carole Smith told the story of the journey which Nigel and the church had taken to get to this point and a presentati­on was made to Rev Tony Haley in recognitio­n of the part he has played as Moderator during the time the church has been without a minister.

Following the service a barbecue was held in the manse garden which was blessed with perfect weather for the occasion. The church fellowship now look forward with excitement and anticipati­on to what God has in store for Nigel and the church in the future.
